Research
The goal of my research is to understand deeper human emotions and communication through computational methods providing a person or a computer itself the tools to understand human feelings in natural interaction settings.
My main focus of research is twofold: How to create ecological databases, to supply the needs of the emotion research and its different applications and what is the effect that the cultural background of each individual portrays in his or her expression of emotions.
I am interested in human behavior and socialization, how we relate with others and what is the influence of our emotional information in daily life interaction. Also I am currently working in the decision making support based on emotion information.

About
Hello! And thank you for visiting ~~
My name is M Alejandra Quiros-R and I am a 3rd year PhD candidate at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
I was born in Costa Rica, but I have been living in Japan for the last five years (and counting). I did my bachelor studies in Computer Engineering in the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (ITCR). In 2008 I was awarded with the Japanese Monbukagakusho Scholarship. I spent my first year as a research student in the Computational Vision Science Laboratory, where I also did my masters about Shape Representation in the Cerebral Cortex of humans.
I started my PhD in the Humanistic Systems Laboratory in the year 2011. At the end of this year, I joined efforts with a group of specialists in the creation of the Emotion Sensing Center.
